Neo-Botanicals
A selection of collages from an on-going series.
Taking inspiration from and re-purposing pages from books of botanical drawings I am making images of new variations of biological forms with recombinant DNA.
Channeling Margaret Atwood MaddAddam series and J.G. Ballard's The Drowned World in creating these dystopian collages from an imagined future world where environmental degradation has spawned new flora that incorporates textile and print ephemera as a type of genetic modification.
In the spirit of the scientific observation of botanical drawings, I invite you to view my investigations of my new strange flora and to contemplate our fascination with beauty found within the exotic in nature - as un-natural as "Nature" may become.
